A Summertime Lift

Here are six 6 simple ways to give your home a summertime lift; including the introduction of colourful art, bright blankets, and light reflecting mirrors.

1 – Art

Embrace colour on your walls without even lifting a paintbrush by investing in a painting or two. Art on the walls can instantly change the look and feel of a room; a coastal beach painting can add a relaxed summertime feel, whereas a darker piece could create a cosy wintery look.

Art not only adds colour but also character to a room; find something that puts a summertime smile on your face as soon as you walk into a room.

2 – Plants

Bring life to your house by adding plants and greenery, bringing the outdoors in. Larger plants are perfect to fill corners, smaller plants sit well on tables, and shelves are the perfect place for ‘plant of the moment’ cacti.

Explore the outdoors, search the hedgerows and bring home cuttings to fill vases. Each walk could be a new find for your home.

3 – Summer Bursts

Add a modern pop of colour to your living room by using brightly coloured accessories such as cushions, vases or soft furnishings.

A brightly coloured blanket can add an instant burst of colour to a room. Choose one that contrasts with your sofa or compliments your art. Current favourite is the Lemon Waffle Throw from Atlantic Blankets, as featured in main image.

4 – Outdoor Living

Make the most of the summer by creating an outdoor area to enjoy breakfast, a cup of tea or to read a book. Create a cosy nook, and soften garden furniture with cushions and blankets, to make a more welcoming space to enjoy.

Invest in a garden box to keep your garden accessories separate and to allow you to easily transform your outdoor living.

5 – Whiten Wood

Update dark wood with a splash of white paint, which can instantly brighten your space, creating a fresh Scandinavian style.

Getting the right white paint can really transform a room; try Farrow & Balls Wimborne White or Dulux Jasmine White.

6 – Mirrors

A well-placed mirror makes the most of a room’s natural light and can create a feeling of extra space. Fill empty walls with large mirrors and see them transform.

If you have no room on the walls, free-standing mirrors can work well throughout the house; at the end of a corridor or to fill a corner.

We hope to have given you lots of inspiration to add a summertime lift to your home.
